AT&T gets orders from Tim Cook to unlock iPhones
After two-years, you would expect that the device would be unlocked automatically for free but the case is not the same with AT&T. The company has been rerouting customers that want to unlock their phones after they have finished their two years contract to Apple and vice versa. That has been causing a lot of headache to the customers.
Recently, a customer decided to put it up a notch and send an e-mail straight to Tim Cook which is the Chief Executive Officer for Apple. Included in the e-mail is a complaint in the unlocking process on which he should have been granted on. Shortly after that, AT&T had contacted the customer stating that they had a special exclusion case made by Tim Cook himself. In fact, the CEO’s assistant also made a call to the customer to ensure that the problem has been resolved. The same case happened to a few other AT&T customers as well and they all had an exclusion case filed by Tim Cook as well. In fact, it is one of the few ways on which you can legally unlock your phone.
Although it is nice of the CEO to do so, the policy to unlock the iPhones should have been made easier especially after the user has been a loyal customer for two-years.
