I’ve once read somewhere that whenever a sequel has the word Evolution in it, it’ll pretty much just suck. Just take a look at the movie Dragonball: Evolution. It sucked and angered just about every fan in the world. But AVP: Evolution seems to have broken the naming jinx.

Before the game can officially commence, players have to choose between the equally menacing and brutal Alien or Predator. Each option has certain advantages over the other so it’s rather balanced out and neither side is overpowered.

The game takes place from a third person point of view, with a virtual joystick and buttons mapped around the screen. There are missions to complete, quests to accomplish and objectives to fulfill, so this is one game that will keep you hooked for a very long time.

With plenty of depth as seen from the extensively rich storyline, players will spend many hours exploring the stages and killing enemies. Lifelike graphics provide plenty of eye candy, though I am not sure if blood spilling everywhere appeals visually to everyone. I love how not only were the characters lifelike and beautiful, the backdrops and surrounding environment were also clearly rendered. This provides a wonderful gaming experience that can definitely rival that of many other desktop or console games.

Of course, players can upgrade their Alien or Predator with points accumulated as the game progresses, with careful investments placed in specific areas that will make or break later levels.

Priced at $0.99, it is indeed a steal for such an awesome game.
