Even though the GPU on our iOS devices have grown through the roof, the most realistic graphics are not always the ones that stay in our minds. Here are some games, which poke their heads out from the crowd with their unique graphical elements.

Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery – The cardboard graphics

This game tells the story of little Jacob who becomes friends with an Yeti during his summer camp. The gameplay mostly involves solving puzzles and riddles. On the other hand, the visuals are stunning with cardboard-puppet like animations, pruned to perfection by the Unreal Engine. Another similar game which comes to mind is Lume.

Machinarium – The painted graphics

This is one of the first games which taught us how flexible gaming on iOS can be. Following a stranded robot in his quest to save his girlfriend, we experience the familiar ‘point and click’ gameplay. Talking about graphics, scene-wise backdrops and fine animations makes the game much more effective than we think.

Fly Fu – The doodle graphics

While there are a hundred other doodle games available, you might wonder why I’ve chosen this game to represent the group. Fly fu is nothing like the Doodle jump or Jelly car; it is sketch animation at its peak. Each movement, dynamic backgrounds and enemies, all are full caricatures with jaw dropping effects. Special attacks, weapons and clip scenes just blows your mind. A must have in this group.

Ridiculous Fishing: A Tale of redemption – The 8bit graphics

Again, the pixelated games are a vast group and yes, there are alot wonderful games that deserves special mention. Yet, Ridiculous Fishing with its highly innovative and addictive gameplay is my choice. There is no need for explanation of the type of visuals in this pixel genre consisting of The Block cometh, Pocket Planes etc.

Lego Batman: DC Super Heroes – The Lego graphics

Who would have thought that the toy building-blocks company would come such a long way as to have their own animation style. Though lego themselves have released a few such games, other developers have done better. Block like crude 3D animations make Lego Batman and Minigore like games stand out.
