User Rating:Brothers In Arms is yet another game that makes fantastic use of the graphics and animation available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The free version comes with an opening sequence that’s practically motion picture quality.
The full version of the game costs $4.99 and comes with more campaigns, more missions and more capability. However, the free version is nothing to snort at, even if it only comes with one mission (Normandy).
The game does have an options menu where the user can activate the motion sensor, invert the Y and the control schemes. The user can also control volume and get game info.
This is definitely not a game for peace-loving hippies. It’s a typical first-person shooter (albeit with better graphics) and if they included some robots, I would think it was the Terminator game I reviewed a short while ago.
Learning the movement is somewhat complicated at first (which is why they included a tutorial), but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty logical to use. The toughest part is figuring out that scrolling up on the screen moves the player’s POV down, while scrolling down moves the POV up.
You even can throw grenades at those dirty Ratzis! Tapping the gun in the upper left corner pauses the game and acts as an option button all its own.
In short, it’s a pretty cool game. Worth checking out, particularly for the price.
Pros: Fantastic graphics. Heart-pounding action.
Cons: Can get a bit overwhelming in terms of sound. Confusing to use at first.
