Marvel makes another movie and releases an iDevice game to go with it. Sadly, this app is not near as good as the Spider-Man game and may not even be quite as good as the recently released Thor game for that movie.

The plot is simple: Cap has to fight the Nazis (well, HYDRA solderis. Perhaps they were keeping the Nazis for the movie) and the Red Skull.  Sadly, while the graphics are 3D, the game is not. Cap only runs from left to right and jumps, ducks and attacks various enemy soldiers in his way.

As with the Thor game, this one has a plot with digital comics pages to move it along between the action sequences. The controls are pretty simple in which you swipe up to jump, down to duck and to the right to attack. There is also a button for throwing Cap’s trademark shield. As you progress in the game, there are other swiping combinations you can use to perform different moves and take down enemies.

As you play, you can win certain features like alternate costumes for Cap. You can also win digital versions of classic Captain America comic covers. Naturally, the game is interactive with Game Center, Facebook and Twitter.

Still, for all my complaints, this game wasn’t quite the disappointment that the Green Lantern game was. At least this one is universal, and if you wait long enough the price will likely eventually go down to a buck.

Quick Take

Value:Medium.

Would I Buy Again:Most likely.

Learning Curve:Low to medium.

Who Is It For:Marvel enthusiasts and those who like Captain America.

What I Like:Good graphics. Easy to use.

What I Don't Like:Storyline and game play could be better. 3D graphics for a 2D game.

Final Statement:Captain America is good fun, but Marvel could have done better.
