iOS users seem to have a particular liking towards puzzles starring cute heroes. Starting from Cut the Rope, Contre Jour and Cover Orange, till the recent Badland, you could see how this actually makes sense. Though not as magestic as these legends, Cling Thing tries to bring something similar.

Each level finds the Cling Thing stranded in a new place and you need to help him reach the red pipe. And for moving, the poor thing has only sticky strings, somewhat like our Spidey’s web. Use them to hook on surfaces, jump over thorns, pull yourself up and more. Send the orb home through the vacuum pipe and he is happy!

Yeah, I admit that this game has one or two things taken from Contre Jour!

Multitouch gesture takes the game, one step further. Use two strings to catapult yourself, to pull stuff around and to precise your paths. Things become more tricky as transparent platforms, non sticky areas, locked doors and evil orbs comes into play.

Four chapters make up about 100 levels so that you never fall short of puzzles. More chapters are on the way, too. Stars can be collected in each level which opens up new chapters. Collect all three starts and finish in time to win medals.

The graphics is colourful while the sound effects and bgm are effective. Other than the first payment, Cling Thing doesn’t reach its hands for more but, the absence of a skip or hint option is truly evident as you get stuck often. Some free hints would be a nice addition. The touch controls are super effective and does exactly what we intend.

So what’s the final word? Though the gameplay and puzzles are fun, it wouldn’t be my first choice for a game of the genre. Of course, if you’re done with Contre Jour, Cling Thing is worth a shot.

Quick Take

Value:High

Would I Buy Again:Yes

Learning Curve:Medium

Who Is It For:Contre Jour fans

What I Like:The multi-touch puzzles

What I Don't Like:No hints or skips

Final Statement:Totally worth the money

Read the Developer's Notes:
No one knows where exactly these colorful, squidgy, grinning orbs came from. All we know is this: they’re very clingy! Tap to stretch their gooey tendrils to nearby walls and objects and use multi-touch to navigate them through all manner of sticky situations.

Get stuck in
Use your Cling Thing’s grip ability to swing around all 96 perplexing contraptions. Reach for the stars scattered around each level to race against the clock for medals.

Stretched in all Directions
Use your sticky abilities to solve puzzles and experiment with physics to reach the escape pipe. Stuck? Try using multi-touch to latch on to multiple surfaces at once.

Pipe Dream
From soothing piano tunes to acoustic guitar melodies, Cling Thing’s calming soundtrack is the perfect antidote to its fiendishly tricky puzzles.

Game Features:
• Tap to make your Cling Thing stick to its surroundings
• Over 96 levels of viscous fun with 480 stars to find
• Play with physics to solve these sticky puzzles
• Colorful visuals and a relaxing piano-driven soundtrack
• UNIVERSAL: Clings well on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
