In many of my previous reviews, I’ve mentioned more than once how I prefer casual games over dense and content rich thrillers. I don’t like the feeling of having complicated plots mess with my mind, constantly having to worry about planning my next move in game and whatnot. I prefer games I can pull out and enjoy on the go where I don’t have to frustrate myself trying to recall what I did the previous round and what I should be doing next. However, most casual games lack purpose in them. Call me crazy but while I don’t need a complicated storyline to power my games, I would at least want a purpose to continue playing. A driving force to propel the game forwards.

This is where Cyto comes in.

Players take control of a… Blob. Yes, a blob. Disregard fancily colorful or heavily armored mythical creatures in other games. Here, we get an amoeba-like blob who has lost its memories. No prizes for guessing, but the objective of the game would of course revolve around recovering said memories.

The game is played catapult style, where players use their fingers to drag the blob back in order to launch it forward. Gameplay revolves around sending the blob flying around the screen collecting memory fragments and reaching certain end points to move on to the next stage.

While this game concept has pretty much been overused in the casual department, I must say it still does an amazing job keeping you hooked. If I had any gripes to make, it would be about the color scheme. Granted, a space themed game would primarily rely on darker colors, but the lack of contrast causes the game to appear rather dull and unappealing.
