Generator Rex – Enemy Alliance Review – Another cartoon superhero game
App Type: Uncategorized
Version #: 1.0
Date Released: 2012-04-04
Price: 0.99User Rating:
Generator Rex – Enemy Alliance doesn’t offer anything that you haven’t seen in other games before. Rex is a shape-changing superhero that has to team up with his arch-enemy Van Kleiss to stop an evil computer from destroying the world.
Usually the left side of the screen, you move Rex around the universe of the game and using various gestures on the right side, you can jump or attack at the evil animated rock creatures that your nemesis throws at you. I feel as if I’ve seen this sort of game before, particularly with other television-spawned iOS games such as the Simpsons.
On the plus side, the graphics are quite good, particularly for 2D. At this stage, the iPad and iPhone are excellent gaming alternatives so the games geared at kids have long since become formulaic. It’s a bit like those old arcade games where you move the character around with a joystick and have two buttons to jump and attack. While there is a touchscreen instead of buttons, the fundamentals are still the same.
I do wish that developers would become a little more imaginative with their television franchise games. However, the truth is that I’m not the target audience for this game and the boys that are probably have more tolerance for such things than I do.
Generator Rex – Enemy Alliance is a universal (iPhone and iPad) app that is available for $.99. If you or your child is a fan of the show, then it’s a pretty reasonable investment.
Would I Buy Again:For myself? Probably not.
Who Is It For:Boys and fanboys.
What I Like:Good graphics.
What I Don't Like:Redundant concept and gameplay.
Final Statement:For 99 cents, it might be worth the investment.
