User Rating:Those of us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s playing video games remember what is considered by some to be the best Legend of Zelda installment: A Link to the Past. It’s vibrant colors and addictive game play brought you back for more, time and time again. It is no wonder that many game developers have tried to emulate the success of the Zelda franchise. In the case of FDG Entertainment’s Across Age EX they even stated that fact with a banner on the first screen shot.
This "freemium" Action/Adventure RPG title holds fairly true to the Zelda game style. The colorful characters and beautiful environments scream 16-bit console. The controls are simple and anyone who has ever played a game of this genre will immediately feel at home. The action response to the buttons was noticeable inconsistent; with buttons not always registering when touched. Hopefully this will be improved with an update. Control issues aside, the game implements a mechanic in which the player controls two characters, and must split them up at times in order to solve cooperative puzzles. This adds an interesting twist to the standard fare.
As a freemium title, Across Age EX lets you play the beginning of the game to see if you enjoy it and then offers the rest of the game as a $4.99 upgrade. The free portion of the game is very short and will probably take most gamers 15-20 minutes to finish. The full game offers 15 hours of game play which I would say more than earns the $5 price of admission. With the first chapter being free, I see no reason not to give it a download and try it out. Across Age EX is a solid game that is fun and engaging.

What I Like:Great Graphics, easy to learn.
