User Rating:Admittedly, I’m a fan of mini-golf, and having reviewed other miniature golf apps for What’s On iPhone, I thought it only natural to give Adrenaline Golf a try when they put it on sale for .99.
The trick with this one is that mini golf is played in places that you ordinarily wouldn’t play, like next to an active volcano. That’s where the adrenaline comes in.
I’ve said before that one of the benefits of virtual mini golf is that, other than obeying the simple laws of physics, the creators are only limited in their imagination with regards to which world the mini golf is played in. In Adrenaline Golf, there are places to play such as a Jungle Temple, a Tiki Moon or a Volcano Beach in this one.
The graphics are superb and the play motion is excellent. You can choose two methods of hitting the ball after you line up your shot. One is to hit a "power bar" and the other is to flick the ball itself to determine how hard you’ve hit it.
In fact, the graphics and physicals are so good that I have a tiny, minor complaint. It’s annoying to wait until the ball has rolled to a complete stop to continue the game. Yes, I know that’s how it works in real life but this isn’t real life, darn it (I know. It’s a silly complaint). Otherwise, it’s a great mini golf game.
I haven’t played this one completely through yet, but I have a long plane ride coming up soon and now I can practice my swing at 35,000 feet.
Quick Take
Value: Excellent
Would I Buy Again: Most likely, particularly at the lower price
Learning Curve: Low to moderate. Takes time to figure out the strokes.
Who Is It For: Mini golf lovers
What I Like: Graphics. Motion. The game itself.
What I Don’t: It’s too realistic. Have to wait for the ball to stop rolling.
Final Statement: As good as any iPhone/iTouch mini golf game out there.
