Wow!  What a great game!   Seeing how it’s from UBISoft—the makers of games for most gaming consoles and PC’s, I’m not too surprised.

Assasin’s Creed is a combination platformer and adventure game.  You wander through towns walking along various paths (scaling buildings, foot paths, balaning on beams), solving puzzles, picking people’s pockets, and fighting people.

The game looks fantastic–the 3D worlds are well rendered and fun to explore.  The opening video is also well done.

While there isn’t a physical joystick (it’s an iphone after all),  a virtual ‘joystick" and the buttons needed for the game are presented around the screen.  It took me a few minutes, but I got the hang of it fairly fast.  Overall the game controls are very good.

Most "lite" games give you only one shortl level to play, but Assasin’s creed gives you two full levels to play… enough to really get you hooked.

There are various powerups and upgrades you can ‘purchase’ in the game (no, not for real money/credit, the only charge for the paid version is the one time charge), as well as “special” attacks that can be performed, but unfortunately, the free version doesn’t let you sample enough of those features.

The movement is fluid and the graphics are superb.  Even on my 3G, the game performs without any slowdowns or frame mishaps.  The textures, perspective, and character graphics are what you would expect from UBISoft and I can honestly say that I understand why Sony is worried about their PSP platform.  The iPhone/Touch is a serious contender when it comes to games, especially, these type, since it seems that nothing has been left out.

Quick Take

Value: High  (The $4.99 for the full version is well worth it)

Would I Buy Again:  Yes! I ‘d even recommend it to people I know

Learning Curve:  Hardly any

Who Is It For: Gamers, people that like platform and/or adventure games

What I Like: Great graphics, good game play.

What I Don’t:  It hooked me enough to make me want to buy the full version!

Final Statement:  This is a great game to play! The quality of the game far surpasses 99% of the platform games I’ve seen on the iphone.
