Admittedly, I'm a fan of the television series Chuck on NBC. So naturally, when I learned that a free iPhone app was available, I took the opportunity to download it and check it out.
The app is cute but basically unnecessary and has no appeal outside of the show's fanbase. As with all free applications that relate to television shows, it's intended for promotional purposes only.
The app allows you to take a photo that is either from the camera on an iPhone or within the photo library and superimpose a Chuck-related image on top of it. For example, you can put a Nerd Herd tag or a Jeffster backstage pass (which alone is worth the cost of the download).
And really, that's it. It's not exactly the most involved application, but what do you expect for free? I'm not even sure what else I would like with the application. I suppose clips from the show would have been nice. Maybe even a coupon for Subway (or whatever chain is the sponsor for its third season).
I wish I could give a better rating for this app, but it seems a half-hearted effort. I confess that I've had trouble getting into the show's third season as well. However, it's only three episodes in and we haven't even hit sweeps yet, so I have high hopes.
The Chuck app is a nice-to-have if you're a fan of the show. And if you work it correctly, you can use it to get yourself a fake backstage pass for Jeffster.

Value: High, but I'm a fan of the show.
Would I Buy Again: Yes.
Learning Curve: Low.
Who Is It For: Fans of Chuck.
What I Like: Cute in-show references with the superimposed images.
What I Don't: Kind of simplistic, but good enough for the price.
Final Statement: If you're a fan of Chuck, you should already have this app.
