User Rating:If I had to give a few adjectives to describe Daisy Mae’s Alien Buffet, it would be "cute," which would be followed by "weird," trashy" and "sexist."
The premise of the game is that Daisy Mae is a waitress (who somehow is armed) at a roadside diner in rural America. That diner is suffering from an alien invasion, and it’s up to Daisy to shoot all the aliens while wearing revealing outfits.
I know, this has B-Movie written all over it, and I’m sure there is subtext somewhere in this game. I’m just having trouble finding it.
The game itself is fairly easy to play. There is a steering wheel control on the lower left which steers the direction Daisy runs and a control on the lower right to control the direction of Daisy’s guns. The aliens are apparently flesh-eating, so if they hit you three times, the game is over.
My problems with the game is that there doesn’t seem to be any kind of time limit or death limit that would give a person points and raise the level of play. On the other hand, I keep getting killed before I can get a good score. It would help if there was some sort of bird’s eye view that lets the user see the aliens relative to Daisy.
Overall, as said, the game is cute and somewhat good for a laugh what with the whole "white trash" theme. If that fits your criteria for a game, then it’s worth the two dollar investment.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:Possibly.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Those that like humor, B-movies and scantily-clad women with weapons.
What I Like:Good graphics and animation. Humorous concept.
What I Don't Like:Difficult to control Daisy. Can't see when the aliens are coming from.
Final Statement:Daisy Mae's Alien Buffet needs a little more time in the oven before it's perfectly cooked.
