User Rating:I tried Fairies Fly Lite for 2 reasons…1, It was on a ‘featured’ page (so I thought it must be pretty good or have some sort of buzz about it) and 2, because I have a 4 year old daughter; like most 4 year old girls she loves princesses, fairies and pink.
When I tried the game myself, I admit the graphics on the video clips were nicely done–and since it as was just a video clip, I could easily skip it (tap the screen and press ‘done’) to get to the game.
In the lite version you have just one character–Tinkerbell–and one screen–Beach Cove. The object is straight forward, fly Tinkerbell through the screen collecting coins, screws and pixie dust; don’t crash into the birds. To fly ‘up’ you tilt the screen up. To fly down, you tilt it down. I aced the game first time through! (Oh Boy! I guess that’s what happens when you aren’t in the game’s demographic.)
I then excitiedly grabbed my daughter and fired up the game for her. She ‘ohhh-ed’ and ‘ahhh-ed’ at the video and excitedly proclaimed "Hey! I have this movie!". When the game started she was very happy flying up and down and getting the coins. She mastered the game in about 5 seconds; and then she started flying into he birds. Over and Over. Even though I told her she wasn’t supposed to hit the birds, she would anyway and giggle each time. After about the 5th bird (and without any prompt) she said "I don’t like this game. Where’s another kid game?"
The fact that she was so excited about the graphics and the characters started the game off great. Mastering the controls quickly; another plus. Getting bored with the game in less than 30 seconds… not priceless.
Quick Take
Value: Low
Would I Buy Again: Nope!
Learning Curve: So easy a kid can pick it up in a few secons!
Who Is It For: People that like Tinkerbell, Rossetta and all the other fairies
What I Like: It looks nice
What I Don’t: The game got old way to fast. When you are bored with the lite version, there’s no hope for the ‘paid’ one!
Final Statement: Unless you (or somebody you know) is obsessed with fairies, I’d stay away from this. It’s got a great look, but can’t deliver the excitement to make the excitement last more than 30 seconds
