User Rating:Sometimes I think Disney and Apple have one of those "very special" relationships, particularly since both brands rely so much on marketing a certain image. So, naturally, Disney has developed a LOT of apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch. But it says something when they develop an app specifically to exploit their own web presence.
Admittedly, like most Disney apps, this one is well put together and could easily keep the attention of your small child. There are a myriad of sections, just as there are a myriad of sections to the Disney website. Most importantly, there are cute little apps littered through, such as the app to put a picture from your iPhone camera or Photo Library in a Disney photo frame.
Among other things, you can listen to Radio Disney Live (assuming you have WiFi reception if using an iPod Touch), although that requires another free app download. There are also a bunch of games littered throughout the app like Disney Name That Song (a rather blatant attempt to market their songs via iTunes with such phrases as "if you liked that song.."), a Tigger bouncing game, and some game I never mastered involving some kid named Aaron Stone whom undoubtedly your children have heard of but I haven’t.
I even like how the menu options dangle like Christmas ornaments when you rotate the device. It’s a very Disney thing to have in the app.
Yes, it’s Disney. Yes, it’s blatant marketing. It’s also fun. And for the price of free, it’s recommended.
Quick Take
Value:High
Would I Buy Again:Sure.
Learning Curve:Medium, depending on which section of the app you're using.
Who Is It For:Kids and adults that want to be kids.
What I Like:Lots of stuff included. Excellent graphics.
What I Don't Like:Blatant Disney marketing. But isn't everything that Disney does?
Final Statement:Yeah, it's worth it.
