User Rating:I grew up with Pac-man fever. A time when video games with "amazing" sounds effects of all sorts of beeps, stunning 8 bit/128 color graphics and, dare I say, innocent games. Frogger was one of those games that seemed to be in every 7-11, drug store, and pizza shop.
Now, many years later we have frogger here on our iPhone. And the developers at Konami did a great job recreating it
You mission is to make the frog cross the road, and the. The river to get him safely to his home on the ropnif the sceen. Fill up all the "homes" and the screen gets trickier–more cars, turtles dunking under water, faster ligs and snakes. You get the idea.
There are several ways to control your frog–swiping in the direction you want him to jump, tilting your phone to make him jump, or taping on the screen to make him jump. The default control (swiping) worked well except when I would swipe "down" I often would swipe too far and would be presented with a menu that would ask if I wanted to resume the game, restart, etc.
The graphics are spot on. The game play is pretty good too.
In general, it’s a very good port of a classic video game.
Quick Take
Value:Medium...frogger is a classic game, but definately not my favorite
Would I Buy Again:Yes, especially if I was feeling a bit nostalgic
Learning Curve:The controls took a little getting used to, but after a game or two it was easy
Who Is It For:People that remember the 'good old days' of video games and those that want a quick frogger fix
What I Like:It matches the "real" coin-op one as closely as you can get
What I Don't Like:The controls are awkward at times. Especially when I was swiping down
Final Statement:This is a solid version of a class video game. A must have for anybody that collect such games.
