For those who are fans of the television show Futurama, you are aware that in their versoin of the future, historical figures are kept alive as heads in jars. This allows many current celebrities the opportunity to lend their voices to the show as themselves as well as giving Richard Nixon another run as president of something (in this case, Earth).
Now, thanks to the folks behind the show, you can make your own custom head in a jar (much like a South Park or Simpons avatar). Most of the shapes are familiar, but you can combine them into your own unique creation.
The app also comes with clips from the latest season of the show. Given the low cost (free) for the app, it’s usually the case that they have something to promote.
Speaking of promoting, the app can let you do all kinds of social media stuff. You can share your head creations via Facebook (the app currently has some bugs in that regard but should be fixed upon the next release) or save them to your Photo Library. You can browse the Futurama Facebook page or the Comedy Central website and set up alerts for new episodes of Futurama.
It would be nice if the app came with some pre-made celebrity heads, but that would probably cost the creators extra. You could always make your own.
I’m a Futurama fan and consider this app to be a must-have. It is both creative and clever and you can’t beat the price. Recommended.

Good news, everyone! The new Futurama iPhone app lets you create your very own Head-in-a-Jar!
Go glamorous with a giant cyclops eye, or class things up with a gleaming robot antenna. With a dizzying assortment of human, alien, and robot features, the possibilities are literally finite.
You can share your heads on Facebook and Twitter or save them to your phone as a background. You can even create and share collections of heads in your own personal Head Museum, populated with Futurama versions of your family, friends, or fellow inmates.
