The Help screens explains the game this way–

The objective is to remove groups of the same color. Depending on the mode, you have to collect up to 5 gold coins to advance to the next level. You score more points the more items there are in the group you select.

You begin with just three types of gems on the screen at once, but through the course of the game it will get trickier as more items and gems are added.

That’s pretty much it.

Golden Skull is a simple game in a genre that is increasingly familiar (Bejeweled, Aurora Feint etc.) To get a feel I played a game on the simplest level.

The graphics are very nice but could become redundant (read "boring") quickly. The sounds are good but could become redundant (read "boring") quickly. Fortunately you can listen to your own music while you play.

When you tap one type of gems it, and those around it, fall away and add points. The points are monitored in a bubble at the top right of the screen. If you slide your finger while it is on the screen the game hows you how many gems of that type are touching and how many points it will earn you. (That’s the strategic element of the game as far as I can tell.) Once the bubble is filled a new gold coin appears on the screen. Touch it and it is added to your account.

Once you "collect" five gold coins The screen announcing the next level is cute but again it could becomes redundant rather quickly.

Astraware describes the game as "perfect for a quick game when you’re waiting in line". As such it is terrific. If you are looking for something more complex, faster paced or more challenging this won’t be the game for you. If you want a simple, fun distraction it is great.

In all, I enjoyed playing but am not sure how long it will keep my interest. Then again, I keep coming back to Bejeweled and at $2.99 this is a good deal. I WILL be keeping it on my iPhone and Touch.

Quick Take

Value: Medium
Would I Buy Again: Probably
Learning Curve: Low
Who is it for: People who like simple, non-violent games
What I like: Polished, nice graphics, stable
What I Don’t: I’m not sure how long it will keep my interest.

Final Statement: Good, simple and fun
