User Rating:When I first heard the title of MUST.EAT.BIRDS, I thought it had something to do with Sylvester the Cat from the Looney Tunes cartoons. Sadly, it does not. Rather, it has to do with a circular character with irregular eyes and teeth and a tongue that hangs out. This character has to prevent the birds from ruining his picnic (which consists almost exclusively of pastries) by being fired from a slingshot that is set between two forks in the table in an effort to "eat" the parachuting birds. Yes, it’s that weird.
Game play is pretty simple. You pick a level and the game takes you to a picnic table that looks like it was designed by someone on acid. Using your finger, you then position the character by dragging back and letting go. For some reason, the character bounces off the sides of the game. I don’t ask why. I also don’t ask why birds with wings need to parachute down. Asking only ruins the logic of the game.
You’re expected to shoot down a certain number of birds. If you fail to shoot down that number or a certain number of birds reach the table, the game is over. As levels progress, there are more birds and it is required to shoot more down to ascend to the next level.
It’s a very silly game. For a little while, it was also free (although that’s no guarantee anymore). While I cannot recommend going out of your way to get this game, I wouldn’t say you should avoid it either. The cuteness alone might make it worth the buck.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:Possibly, but not probably.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Those that like cute violence.
What I Like:The character design and animation.
What I Don't Like:The game feels redundant after a while.
Final Statement:I don't feel as if I must eat birds, but you might.
