User Rating:Zombies have always scared the crap out of me, even as a kid. With that in mind, I’ve always avoided playing the Resident Evil set of games. But, when a single-level version of one of the games became available for free in the App Store, I figured it was time to shake off my fears and try it out.
Resident Evil: Degeneration may very well be the best thought out game I’ve played on the iPod Touch so far. The story is interesting (albeit simple) and the graphics are unmatched and make full use of the iPhone/iTouch’s capabilities.
The user is a secret agent sent to an airport after a biological infection has rendered most of the airport’s residents into zombies. The agent has to rescue a U.S. Senator that supposedly is in safety and uninfected.
One of the nicest aspects of the game is the clear instruction about exactly what is going on. When you’re near something you can affect or interact with (such as a ladder or a door) then text appears on the screen instructing you what to do. The settings allow you to control the game language, screen effects and sounds.
The people at Capcom certainly know their stuff when it comes to making first person shooters. The game isn’t perfect, but it’s sure close. For free, this game is well worth the price of having around. For those who love it, the full version is a whopping $6.99 (and comes with more levels and more fun). But you get what you pay for.
Pros: Fantastic graphics. Well thought story.
Cons: None that I can find.
