The question you must ask is: if Twitter has released a client for their service for free, why should one purchase a Twitter client for $1.99? The answer defines the difference between the casual Twitter user and the avid one. The free Twitter client offers basic services, but if you want customizable ones for reading a myriad of Tweets, Tweetbot might service you better.
The part I like best about this Twitter client is the customization possibilities of the interface. You can easily search for mentions, messages, tweets and do a search for twitter-people to follow right from the toolbar at the bottom. A compose button remains at the top at (almost) all times to allow for the composition of a new tweet when the mood strikes. There is also a Settings section to customize certain aspects of the program such as sounds, font size, display name and the actions of a triple-tap on the screen.
Personally, I’ve never been into the culture of tweeting. It takes more than 140 characters to say what I want to say. However, if I were to tweet more heavily and need an iPhone client for it, I would probably choose Tweetbot. The interface is well designed and the sections are very organized. Keep in mind that Tweetbot is currently on sale as of this writing, so if you’re a heavy Twitter user, grab it a.s.a.p.
