Remember when you were a kid and you would draw cartoons of the Zombie Apocalypse during elementary school while the teacher was giving a lesson.  Well, Z is for Zombie is an homage to all of you.  Drawn in the style of a first-grader, it is an homage to your standard zombie-fighting game.

I can understand why this sort of game would be developed.  The creator obviously didn’t want to recreate a game like Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies so he put in his own unique twist to the concept.

There are three game types: Story, Survival and FreePlay.  Story involves following a continuous storyline, Survival involves you being set up across the street from the cemetary and trying to kill as many zombie people and dogs as possible, and FreePlay is similar to the Story version except you can start at any level of the game.  Obviously, if the zombies hit you before you can shoot them (or throw shuriken, I’m not sure which), you become a zombie and the game is over.

This is the most humorous take I’ve seen on the Zombie genre since Shaun of the Dead.  If not for the groaning and apocalyptic sound effects, you’d think it was cute.  My only complaint is that the main zombie-fighter is tough to move around (although shooting is easy enough), but it’s a minor complaint.

If you like kick-ass graphics, this is not the game for you.  If you can do without but enjoy a funny and cute game with zombies, look no further.

Quick Take

Value:Medium-High.

Would I Buy Again:Quite possibly.

Learning Curve:Low to medium.

Who Is It For:Zombie enthusiasts that like cute and aren't bothered by graphics.

What I Like:Good concept.

What I Don't Like:Tough to move the character around.

Final Statement:To have this on your iPhone makes you a true Zombie-lover.
