Our Review:

Figuring out the selling price for your  house can be daunting--finding the right comparables, figuring out the general worth of the neighborhood, etc. Purchasing a house can be just as difficult.

When we were looking to purchase a house over a year ago, we tended to use various real estate sites to get an idea for what a fair price was (for both buying and selling).  Then I heard about Zillow.

At the time, Zillow was just a website, and we were just driving around various areas looking for a place we'd like to live.  Once we found something interesting, we'd drive home and try and find it on Zillow. (Ok, really my WIFE would try and find it on Zillow, but I was very supportive.)
Is it accurate? Not really.    But is it in the ball park? Yes.  (From what I (personally) can tell, Zillow's "Zestimates" are really just the last recorded sale price modified by some generic rate that it uses).  And because it's in the ball park, it became an invaluable tool for both buying our new house and selling our old house.

To make the process even easier, there's the Zillow Real Estate app.  It allows you to find out the "Zestimate" for various neighborhoods using your iPhone.  So you can actually drive around and have it follow your current location.

The interface is straight forward, and the latest version seems to be much faster than the previous release.  Clicking on a price shows you the information about that property--including taxes, comparables and the "Zestimate" trend of the house's value.

I like that you can add 'favorites'--so you can always go back and track how an area (or investment) is doing.

How much is that house really worth on the corner? Now it's as easy as clicking a button to find out.

Quick Take
Value: High! (It's free and useful, does it get any better?)
Would I Buy Again:  Absolutely
Learning Curve: Hardly any
Who Is It For: People looking to buy or sell their house, or people that want to track the 'value' of their real estate
What I Like:  Easy to use interface, nice maps, good response time
What I Don’t:  Not as accurate as I'd like--but better than most

Final Statement: If you are looking to invest in any real estate transactions, this is a great tool to use.
