‘No more midnight calls to mom or panic moments before an Indian ceremony. Just download the SARI app and in 5 easy steps you can dress yourself perfectly in this exquisite Indian attire.’ Personally, I don’t get to attend to many Indian ceremonies, but after watching the sari video, I was kinda sorry about that.

For those of you who have no idea what a sari is: it’s beautiful Indian attire for females. And it’s rather tricky to put on on your own, as there’s over six yards of fabric that needs to be tucked and pleated just so. Most Indian girls have grown up watching their mothers expertly put one on, but have lost the knack themselves. The Sari app promises that you’ll learn how to drape a sari in ten minutes. There’s a step-by-step guide with pictures and some interesting background on the pieces that, once you get the hang of it, will make you look like a lovely Bollywood princess.

There’s also a video, with a beautiful girl showing you how to drape that sari becomingly around you. I must say: it really did make me want to go out, get a sari and give it a go.
The makers, Bhavna Sharma and her husband Siddhartha Banerjee, a Mumbai based couple, are also the folks behind MeterDown, a free app that helps you figure out rickshaw and taxi fares. Sari is a beautiful, quirky and original app and I can’t really fault it. Now all I need is a sari….

We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars
