Let us begin by saying that this Slenderman port was made by an entirely different developer than that of the PC hit.

Slender- Man has been a great disappointment by far and definitely does not live up to the repute of the critically acclaimed originally. With dodgy graphics and an uncertain control system, my gameplay experience of Slender-Man was hardly a decent one.

The objective of the game is pretty much the same as the original, where users navigate through a poorly illuminated field to find 8 objects scattered around the map before being found by the malevolent slender man. Armed with only a flashlight, the game hopes to tests the limits of the players’ fear receptors by building up the intensity as the game progresses. Unfortunately, Slender-Man fails to do it right as the game comes across more towards cheesy than spooky.

With dual joysticks on the screen to act as controls, players roam around the map aimlessly to search for the objects. While the whole concept of gameplay seems fine, the lack of decent graphics and sound effects ruined the whole experience and the game also lagged and froze at times. With sound effects being crucial for a horror-themed game, it was disdainful as to how little effort was placed into this app. Also, I was unable to actually find an object to pick up and the whole game felt more like a wild goose chase trying to survive in the open for as long as possible.

Priced at $0.99, this is definitely a dollar not worth spending.
