Picture this – you are driving on an interstate when you see a speed trap ahead. You slow down so you don’t get a ticket–but what if you didn’t see the speed trap? Well, that is where Trapster can help you in your travels.
Start Trapster and it immediately locates your position on a map and the mapping keeps up with you while on your trip. There are several options for map viewing – map, satellite or hybrid. As you drive, warnings pop up on the map letting you know where there are speed traps, speed cams and red light cameras. Trapster also provides real time live police information which is sent in by other travelers who are using the App to report what they see. Trapster even lets you receive push notifications when the App is not open, alerting you to police locations.
Trapster has a window you can open that provides traffic information from Google traffic as well as a window for ‘My Trips’ which allows you to map out your route for a trip. You can even link to your Facebook or Twitter accounts allowing your friends to keep track of your trips. And you can still play your music while Trapster is open.
There are many options in the menu to allow you to set up Trapster to your liking including types of warnings you receive and sounds that are played.
During my fifty-mile trip I was alerted to five known speed traps and received two live warnings which were right on the spot. Trapster worked perfectly letting me know in advance what was happening around me as I drove. It allowed me to stay focused on driving.
Trapster is free in the App store.
