I love Uno, it was one of the first card game I’ve ever played. Along with Monopoly it made up the crux of my childhood when video games weren’t quite available yet. So imagine my joy when I realized my favorite card game had been ported to iOS devices.
For the uninitiated, Uno is played by succeeding cards based on number and color orders. Different power cards are also available, each with different purposes to spice up the game. When a player reaches his last card, he is obliged to shout Uno, the namesake of the game. Failure to do so will result in additional cards being ‘rewarded’. The first player to clear his entire hand winds.
When it game to this virtual version, the rules were no different. While playing against the AI served not much of a challenge, it was the ability to play with friends and actual people over the air that sparked my excitement. With the game being presented virtually identically to a regular Uno game, it offered much convenience in the sense that physical cards need not be dealt or kept or shuffled which spared much hassle.
I also loved the additional ability to customize your decks. Backgrounds and card designs are available for unlocking and serve as an incentive to keep playing.
Uno has all this while been my favorite card game, and the app version will no doubt be one of my most frequently accessed as well.
