Remember how your grandmother had a stash of beautifully yellowed Polaroids stowed away somewhere in the attic? How the yellowed images blurred away the edges creating a pleasant effect that made the scenery ever so beautiful? With the technology of today, such time-aged effects can be digitally manipulated onto current photographs without having to wait decades for them to age. Vintique is one such app that applies beautiful filters over your images, giving them a different perspective to be looked from.

To strip it down to a bare minimum, Vintique is essentially a photo-editing application that pulls images out of your camera roll and digitally imposes filters over them much like in apps like Instagram. The only difference would be that Vintique has high quality filters that make photos retain their natural appearance rather than appear to be forced or faked.

What I like about Vintique was the ability to customize your filters. Where most photo-editing apps out there have default filters with fixed gradients and whatnot, Vintique gives users some degree of control and customization over their images by giving adjustable textures and whatnot. With the right customizations and the right filters, even grainy, badly taken photographs can appear majestic and grand with this app.

However, while a great app, Vintique is a little too much towards the pricey side. At $0.99 with with the full filter pack being sold for an additional dollar, this is a really expensive app that is hardly necessary at all. If Vintique could do away with the in-app purchase and make everything available for that single dollar, this app would definitely make it to my recommended list.
