We always have our hair standing on their roots when thinking about Walking Dead The Game Season 1. With thrilling episodes, difficult choices, some action, unexpected twists and alot of emotions, the original game stole 4 stars in our review. Time’s passed and Telltale games is here with the sequel, Walking Dead: The Game – Season 2.

And for those who haven’t played the first one, here’s the deal. Our Earth is infected with that Zombie virus and they are roaming everywhere. You and only few others are in their right senses fighting it out in the woods, camps, and garages. The gameplay is a mixture of ‘point and click‘ navigation, some light fightings and mainly Choice-making. Fights are mainly about tapping a round button continuously or swiping the screen to dodge attacks.

The Choice-making part is exactly what you think, but much more amazing and difficult than it sounds. Throughout the game, you are given choices like different replies to a question, to kill or let go, choose to save one of your two friends, be angry or act cute, to tell the truth or hide something and so on. The importance is that each of these choices will be remembered by others and have a long term effect on the direction of the game. Smooth, huh!

The second season begins right where the first one stopped and if you’ve the completed first game installed on your device, all the previous choices will be imported and a custom gameplay is setup. I’m sorry but Lee is not coming back and we’re now in the little girl’s shoes. Yes, here we play the role of Clementine through a very similar gameplay but in new scenarios, characters and places. We see that the 10-year old girl is not as cute as before, as she takes matter into her own hands in this post-apocalyptic era.

The gameplay and all are well and good but, there are somethings which tells me it just isn’t living upto the prequel. First of all, the first episode is very short and you’ll probably finish it in a single sit. In this short span of time, you visit alot of different areas so that you won’t get attached to the new characters and the decisions are just a matter of fairness instead of subjective opinion. This is a major drawback as quick and hard-to-make decision were the highlight of this genre of games, Wolf among us being the latest addition.

The interface, graphics and sound effects are ditto like before but the controls felt a little clumsy. Also I would like to remind that in addition to the 5 bucks for the first season, you’ll need to shed fifteen more for the rest of the game.

In short, though Walking Dead: The Game – Season 2 sports the same setup as the first one, it doesn’t seem as appealing as the latter. Also if things go as before, the app should drop to free when the future episodes are released and hence, it is not adviceable to jump at it right now. So I would suggest you wait till that free tag comes in place.

Quick Take

Value:High

Would I Buy Again:If it drops to free

Learning Curve:Medium

What I Like:Thriller game lovers

What I Don't Like:Lack of emotional attachment to characters

Final Statement:Hopefully, it will be made free soon!

But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad – and sometimes worse – than the dead?

Experience what it’s like to play as Clementine, meet new survivors, explore new locations and make gruesome decisions in this five-part game series of choice and consequence.

    Walking Dead: The Game –
    Season 2 is
looking so amazing indeed. I was really expecting this sequel to come sooner or
later, but now that it’s here, I just cannot wait to get stuck in. $4.99 is actually
quite dear, like you said let hope they drop it soon!
