100,000+ Wallpapers is a cute app that gives users the opportunity to change the background of their iPhone or iPod touch (or iPad, if you get the HD version) with minimal fuss. As mentioned in the title, there are a LOT of images to choose from including some variations of the Apple logo as designed by other artists that are kind of cool.
The app is very simple to use as upon launch you see various thumbnails (or maybe slightly larger than thumbnails) of various images that you can save to your image library at the tap of a screen button. The images are dynamically downloaded from the Internet so a web connection is required for the app (good thing too, since so many images would take a lot of drive space).
The app lacks two features that would greatly improve it. First, it would be nice to search the images using keywords. Second, it would be nice if you could instantly set the selected image as the wallpaper of your device from the app rather than go through the indirect process of saving it to the image library and doing so from there.
My biggest concern about the app is that it seems a lawsuit waiting to happen. They use a lot of images from various sources that don’t appear to be public domain (such as images of Batman or the Joker). Fortunately, the app comes with buttons to deal with such issues. If an image breaches a copyright or contains inappropriate content, you can instantly contact the developers to remove it.
On the other hand, the app is free (income for the developers are gotten from ads within the app) so proper credit isn’t anything you need worry yourself about. Get it while it lasts!
