When I was a kid, I went to many birthday parties at one of those pizza places where the pizza was crappy but the kids loved it because the restaurant is a giant carnival. One of the best games at these places was hands down the Skee ball. For those not familiar with the game, skee Ball is a game where you throw a ball down a ramp that ends with a hump that propels the ball onto another ramp filled with holes that give you points when the ball goes in. The larger point holes are harder to reach and it takes quite of a bit of practice to get good at skee ball.

American Ball is basically skee ball on the iPhone. You even have a limited number of tokens that must be used each time you play. More tokens are awarded everyday, and you are able to purchase more with an in-app purchase, or by downloading certain apps from the app store. Each game gives you 9 balls which means a perfect game is 900 points. Each game you are awarded tickets depending on the number of points you won. Tickets are used to purchase decorations in your game room. That is nice for those that love achievements and collection game, but the real use of tickets is to purchase entry into the online game. There you will compete against others in a single elimination tournament to see who is the best skee ball player.

The game plays well on even older iPhones and the tournaments are exciting enough to keep you racking up tickets to play more. This game also contains banner ads, but with a free price tag this can be excused. There isn’t much more to offer, so if skee ball doesn’t really interest you , or you don’t like to compete online, then you wont find much here to keep you coming back. American Ball is free so it is definitely worth giving it a try.
