Asphalt 7: Heat had been switching between paid and free for quite some time, when finally, it caught the attention of Cupertino’s editors. It was the Free App of the Week, when I grabbed it, but now, it is back to a buck. If you hadn’t got Asphalt 7: Heat then, I can say that it was an offer that shouldn’t have been missed.

Honestly, I can’t believe how they could provide such an awesome game for free. Asphalt 7: Heat has everything one could wish for in a racing game and more; and after few hours of non-stop gameplay, I realised that it comes at par, if not above, my previous favourite NFS: Most Wanted.

The fluid interface gives you three modes; Win championships and heap cups in Career mode. Connect with your overseas buddy via a Live account or locally via wifi or Bluetooth, to see who’s the fastest. The quick play mode let’s you loose into a world of innumerable cars, international tracks and different styles to polish your skills. The gameplay includes all the different forms of racing like sprint, lap-race, lap elimination, knock-outs, drifting and time trial.

You earn cash for completed events which can, of course, be used to buy cars, upgrade or mod them. A cool feature I found, is the ability to rent awesome cars for single matches. Another item is the stars which unlocks cars, tracks and addons. These two can be purchased from the IA store.

The graphic effects are stunning with tons of variations from ice lands, forests, mountains and cities to spectacular lava flowing volcanoes. The adrenaline effect from the predecessor also finds its way in Heat. Gameloft has done a great job with the controls too, which are accurate, customisable and un-interfering. To conclude, if it is the racing thrill you’re seeking, Asphalt 7: Heat is never a wrong choice.
