User Rating:Given the title and the very nature of this application (along with the fact that it’s being offered for free), it should be obvious whom this one is marketed towards.
The app allows you to record lectures and conversations and tag them with some sort of title or description. The user can then go to an internal recording library and play the recordings until the lesson has sunk so far into their skull that deep sea divers would be necessary to retrieve them. When the need for the recording is done, either by completion of the semester or quitting the class, the recordings can be deleted. The app also allows the user to keep a class listing within the application and to associate each recording with a particular class.
The app works fine for what it does and is certainly worth the price (which is affordable even by the standards of your average college student. No need to dip into the beer money for this one). However, if you’re willing to spend a few bucks, the HT Pro Recorder does the same thing and has much more flexibility and capability. It even has a better interface.
For those without money (i.e. students), Audio Class Notes would likely fulfill your needs. The recording and tagging capability is adequate for even those 500 seat lectures with the distant podium and the price is certainly right.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:Probably not, but I am not a student currently.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Students. Just students.
What I Like:Free.
What I Don't Like:Simplistic interface and capability.
Final Statement:Good for students. For everyone else, there are better recorders out there.
