As Smartphones are becoming more and more popular users are starting to look for new ways of managing these devices, therefore if you need to track an iOS device there are several different ways of doing so, this week we have been testing one app that is especially effective at doing just that. 3CX Mobile Device Manager will not only let you track your iDevice, but also let you lock and wipe it remotely, furthermore it will allow you to send notifications to the device and much more. We reviewed 3CX Mobile Device Manager using an iPhone, and therefore only discussed the features that work with iOS.

In order for the manager to work you need to install their app on all your devices, furthermore you need to allow Push notifications, which can be a little daunting for the first time however trust me it is really easy, and furthermore the company has made a great step by step guide which makes the whole process very easy.

Once you log into the web hosted manager you will find all the tools you need in different tabs on the page, first you need to select the device that you want to manage, from there you can localize it on the map, as well as see a host of other features.

Top Features include:

  • Remote Lock
  • Remote Wipe
  • Enforce Password Policies
  • Removing Inappropriate Apps & Mass Deployment of Apps
  • Remote Administration – Configure Wi-Fi Networks on Devices & Policy Violation Alerts
  • Find & Track and Supervise Staff Routes

Another great feature of 3CX Mobile Device Manager is that you can install and remove apps from any device. For instance if you want all your employees to have an app installed on their device then you can quickly do this through the manager, or lets say an app is installed on one of the devices you are tracking, however you don’t want the user of the iPhone to have this app, then you can easily remove it from the device.

Furthermore if you are looking for a manager that will quickly allow you to lock and unlock a device then this is the program to use, not only can you lock and unlock the device but you can also change the passcode remotely.

What really surprised me about 3CX Mobile Device Manager is the fact that the company has decided to make it free to control up to five devices, which in my opinion makes it great for families as well as small start-up companies who might otherwise not be able to afford a solution such as this. The only negative aspect of the free version is it comes without support, however the website really offers loads of tips and tutorials so you should be fine. If you need to control more than five smartphones you can sign up for different plans that range from $95 for six months for 10 devices to 500 devices for $1,495 for six month.

Even though I have only spent a few days with the 3CX Mobile Device Manager I must say I am pretty impressed. I am sure the program is going to keep getting more and more popular as companies switch to BYOD programs. 3CX Mobile Device Manager is really easy to use and works very reliably. There is no doubt in my mind that I will continue to use it, and will recommend it to others looking for a way to manage their iDevices.

So if you’re a business or a family that wants to try out the free 5 device account just go ahead and sign up! It’s ever so easy!
