These days we get a lot of rumors regarding the launch of iPhone 5 but the Guardian offers enough interesting information on how to place things now.

A newspaper journalist says some mobile operators have already received prototypes of iPhone 5 devices to test them in their networks.

These devices are carefully guarded by those who test them, very few people have access to them and the hardware for the next iPhone generation would be introduced in a shell of the old model.

My carrier sources tell me that the boxes in which the new iPhone hardware is encased have been transported to carriers for testing. This is an important step in the release cycle for any phone. The next iPhones go for their testing inside locked and sealed boxes so that the carriers can carry out checks on their network compatibility in their labs.

The devices sent by Apple to operators can be closed in some cases not to be photographed but technician’s operators would have access to them to check if everything operates properly. The devices were sent to operators to check if there are problems with signal reception and everything in the idea of avoiding another scandal like Antennagate conducted last summer.

If the device came indeed to the mobile operators that their launch is not far and Apple conference for the presentation of iOS 5 and iPhone 5 should take place in less than a month. It is possible that by then we will know details about the device.
