App Update: ABContacts

I’ve been happily using ABContacts for a number of months now. As I said in my initial review, it is everything that the native contacts application should have been.

It enables the user to add new context faster and easier than ever before, and permits isolating contacts according to company, city, state, country etc. It also makes it easy to quickly e-mail contact information to others.  The best feature, by far, is the ability to double tap a contact and immediately pull up all of the various ways in which that context can be reached — phone number, SMS, e-mail etc. In other words, it takes all of the data resident in the context application that adds a high degree of additional functionality.

An update that was released just this evening adds a few nice features. In the new version, contacts that are not filed are now placed under the group name "unfiled". The "double tap" that pulls up all of the various ways to contact someone can now be done with slower, allowing it to function more accurately than it did previously. In addition, you can now BCC when doing a mass mailing. Most importantly —

you now have the ability to search for multiple words within contact notes. That means you can finally use the contacts in your address book to keep various records and easily access them by phrases. Personally, this is a small feature that I’ve been hoping for for quite a while. I’m not interested in using a dedicated CRM application but do want to be able to use my contacts list to a greater extent than previously possible.

The full list…

– Optionally on-demand loading of groups information makes the app start faster; – Optionally show contact pictures on contact lists; – Configurable search mode for search bar: words or full; – Optionally search notes, job title and department from the search bar; – Company view to show contacts grouped by company; – Startup setting to always startup on group list, all contacts or last used location; – Optional phonetic sorting; – Redesigned toolbar leaves more space to group names; – Include notes and addresses when sending contact information; – Uses nickname if first name, last name and company are not available

Even before the update I recommend this program. With it,  ever can recommend it even more.

ABContacts is available for $3.99 in the App Store HERE.
