App Update – Feeds

WOiP member Derick emailed me earlier tonight to let me know that RSS app Feeds had received a huge update. His email…

Here’s a list of new features/fixes:
1. Navigation is now bottom/middle, just where you wanted it 🙂
2. Seamless, quick sync. The database has been rebuilt and it syncs without hitching on large numbers of feeds.
3. Tagging of posts. This is a first, from what I can tell.
4. Instapaper integration (I don’t know how this managed to make it in, it’s huge). Hit the instapaper button and enter your credentials and it will be added to your instapaper list.
5. Swipe left to star, swipe right to mark read/unread
6. Post preview text
So, basically this has become the best Google Reader syncing iphone app, IMO. Enjoy :

Let’s look at each one by one.

1. Navigation is now bottom/middle, just where you wanted it 🙂
I have long noted my criticism of ANY RSS reader that places the "Next" button on the top of the screen. Ergonomically it is just the wrong place for it. Feeds had the button wrong before. Now it is perfect- center bottom!

2. Seamless, quick sync. The database has been rebuilt and it syncs without hitching on large numbers of feeds.
Tried it, found the same thing… love it.

3. Tagging of posts. This is a first, from what I can tell.

In part I love using Gmail because of its tagging feature. I now use tagging in my email, my task management (Toodledo), my notes (Evernote) and now… RSS feeds. Love it!

4. Instapaper integration (I don’t know how this managed to make it in, it’s huge). Hit the instapaper button and enter your credentials and it will be added to your instapaper list.
This is just huge! I was emailing with my friends who are part of the GearDiary Team earlier after Amazon announced the Kindel2 that one of the best tools for someone who uses the iPhone/Touch as a reading device is Instapaper. The simple app lets me grab webpages, save them for later access and read then in a clear, resizable format that is a pleasure to use. The inclusion of the Instapaper feature for saving and later accessing
RSS feeds is HUGE and IN AND OF ITSELF would be reason alone to use Feeds! IMO

5. Swipe left to star, swipe right to mark read/unread
Convenient and fast for moving through large lists

6. Post preview text
Nice
