App Update (Price Drop) – VoiceThis

As the competition for market share within the iTune’s app store continues to heat up, and specific areas within it become overcrowded, the inevitable price war continues. The latest application to be impacted — VoiceThis.

This application, which we have looked at previously, was $9.99, until this afternoon, when the price dropped to $4.99. This was, in addition, right after an update to the application which brought it up to version 1.3. All of which is good news except —

I unfortunately discovered that the accuracy of the application has not improved significantly enough to make it useful for me. Granted I have over 1800 contacts in my contact list, but I was speaking as clearly as possible and was only getting about 50% accuracy (which is nowhere near good enough for me to be able to rely on this application).

The good news, however, is that if you have far fewer contacts than I do, it may work quite well. In addition, the application does start up noticeably faster than it had in the previous version.

I am happy to see ongoing attempts to improve both the speed and accuracy but I cannot recommend this application for anyone with any significant number of contacts in their address book as of yet.

Maybe the next update will be the one?
