In an interesting move Apple has hired Toronto Blue Jays assistant GM Jay Sartori to take over the reins of the sports section of the App Store. Sartori has been with the Blue Jays since September of 2010, graduated from Boston College, before working directing baseball operations for the Washington Nationals.

Sartori is known to be a numbers guy who has been responsible for making deals with new players as well managing other projects on the business side of running a professional sports team. While his exact duties with Apple are still unknown, our guess is that his skills will most likely be utilized in brokering new deals with different sports companies. Furthermore it appears as if Sartori will be taking on a position at the executive-level.

The Blue Jays have commented that they won’t be hiring someone immediately, they will instead collectively pitch in until a suitable candidate can be found.
