I don’t know about you guys, but for me one of the best moments during the Keynote yesterday was without doubt when Phil Schiller unveiled the new Mac Pro! “Can’t innovate anymore, my ass” said Schiller and after watching they Keynote I have to agree, this thing is a beast and a beauty at the same time.

It is very rare for Apple to show us a new product before release, however during the WWDC Keynote Apple offered a sneak peek of the new Mac Pro and boy what a sneak peek. The new Mac Pro will hit the market later this year, here are some of the biggest features that Apple announced during the WWDC Keynote.

PROCESSORS

The new Mac Pro comes with the latest Intel Xeon E5 Ivy Bridge processors, this beast offers up to 12 cores, or double the CPU performance of current Xeon processors.

GRAPHICS

Since the Mac Pro is used by many graphic designers and professional video editors graphics are very important, and the new Mac Pro boasts a new PCI Express architecture. Unfortunately with the design of the Mac Pro it also means we might not be able to upgrade the GPU by ourselves. The GPU however is supposed to be able to run up to three 4K displays at once.

MEMORY

Don’t worry about not being able to add extra memory. The Mac Pro will use  1.866MHz ECC DDR3 RAM, best of all it is user replaceable should you need more RAM. Apple has decided to stick with 4 RAM Slots so technically you can addd as much RAM as is currently available on the market.

STORAGE

I think it is time to say the HDD is dead, long live the SSD. The new Mac Pro will boast PCIe-based flash memory, however at this time nothing is known about the capacity of the drives.

PORTS

The new Mac Pro boasts a plethora of ports, with four USB 3.0 ports, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as HDMI out. The new Thunderbolt 2 ports allow users to daisychain up to 36 devices, so I am sure you will have enough possibilities for adding external storage devices and optical drives.

DESIGN

When I saw the new design of the Mac Pro my jaw dropped, sure there are many things that professionals might complain about, but lets be honest here the new Mac Pro is simply a beauty to look at. The cylindrical design makes it look like amazing, even if some say it looks like a little trashcan.  Furthermore the Mac Pro also features a motion sensor, in other words if you turn the Mac Pro around then the  I/O panel on the back lights up.

What do you guys think about the new Mac Pro? Anyone getting one? Be sure to check back when it is launched and we will offer a much more in-depth review.
