Little by little, Apple is forced to align to trends that dictate the tablet market by launching more devices to compete against cheap Android-based products. According to analysts, the current iPad Mini is not cheap enough to be a credible alternative to entry-level tablets based on Android, so here is the need for a model whose price to fall below the minimum threshold of $329, which is offered at present.

In a letter to investors, Glen Yeung – Research specialist from the Citi Company, talked about a change in strategy for Apple, which provides less expensive product launch. In confirmation of the new strategies there are investigations made in the supply of components for Apple products, showing an increase in orders for older generation hardware belonging to the iPhone 4/4S product series. Another clue is the comment made by one of Apple executives named Peter Oppenheimer, in which he talked about the company’s willingness to give up a portion of the profit that can be obtained for short term in the hope of more favorable long-term prospects.

According to the same Glen Yeung, Apple may launch in September this year an iPhone model for low-end market, followed by an iPad Mini tablet priced below $250.
