The iPad is definitely one of the bestselling tablets in the market and for good reasons as well. It may be one of the most technologically advanced tablets in the market so far and the iOS operating system that powers it up is simply the best. However, the current size of the iPad for some can be quite big as compared with its competitors which managed to fork out tablets with sizes between 7” to 8” which is considerably more portable than the current iPad.

That is why there is currently a rumor stating that the Cupertino based company is trying to create a smaller iPad which would cost less than $400 unlocked. This statement has been released by M.I.C Gadget but there is also another source that said the same thing: Wall Street Journal. Both stated that the sizes of the smaller version of the iPad would be around 7” which would compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 and a few others.

It is said to be powered by a low voltage ARM processor and a powerful GPU nevertheless, making it a great device for multimedia as well as gaming. It is also said that the launch date for this device to be some time in the fourth quarter of 2012.
