BeejiveIM – $15.99 And Worth It

At $15.99 BeejiveIM isn’t inexpensive.

Despite the high price I am continually reminded that it is worth every penny. Here are two recent examples of why.

First, while I saw this development last night it didn’t register until I saw a post by Wayne Schulz over on Gear Diary… BeejiveIM does Facebook!

I’m still kind of mixed on the whole "Facebook as IM client" thing but the fact that BeejiveIM continues to expand the number of IM clients it can handle is nothing showt of superb.

As Wayne puts it, Beejive is popular as a chat client because it consolidates multiple instant messaging accounts into one program and removes the need for users to keep changing IM software to chat to “buddies” on different services.

Beejive can now be used to access AIM/MobileMe, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN/Windows Live, MySpace IM, Yahoo Messenger and Facebook IM.

Second, I was IMing with Dimitri late last night and there was something we exchanged that I wanted to save for later use.

I asked Dimitri to copy and email it to me since he was on his MacBook and I was on my iPhone. It was then that I remembered seeing a small email icon in the drop down that appears when I tap the small circle next to someone’s screen name during a chat. I tapped it and a new email opened containing the conversation and ready for an email address for sending. Within seconds a copy of the entire chat was in my email inbox.

Conveniences like that make spending $16 worth every penny!
