Dev manages to port Google Maps app to iOS 6
Since the release of iOS 6 the biggest criticism has been the new Map App, filled with bugs, errors and horrendous pictures the Map App has quickly become the laugh of the day! Now however there seems to be hope for those user who simply can’t live without Google Maps (including myself) Ryan Petrich claims to have successfully ported the now defunct Google Maps iOS app to Apple’s iOS 6. While this is great news he does add that currently the workaround is relatively unstable and does require a jailbroken iPhone.
In a tweet on Saturday, Ryan Petrich said that he was able to get the iOS 5.1 version of Google Maps up and running on the recently released iOS 6, which removed Google Apps in favor of Apples own creation.

To further prove his point Petrich showed off the solution In a corresponding video, however he remains quiet on just how he managed to get the App ported to the new operating system, he did however add that a public release isn’t anywhere near ready yet.
From the YouTube description:
Preview of the old Google Maps application from iOS5.1 and earlier running on an iPhone 3G S updated to iOS 6.0
Still crashy and cannot be distributed to the public yet, but it mostly works 🙂
