Evernote Update In The Works!!

I love Evernote and use it all the time.

BUT… as I wrote earlier in the week I was underwhealmed and disappointed by the initial release of Evernote for iPhone.

Don’t get me wrong, Evernote for iPhone is terrific for what it is, but it doesn’t add all that much over the web app and I want/need more from it.

My biggest disappointments-

-Notes are only availably when a data connection is active (in other words notes are not resident)

-Note are currently "Read Only" and editing is not currently possible

Well, it is good to know that a (partial) fix is in the works.

According to the Evernote’s most recent email update, a recent update to version 1.0.1 fixes issues related to snapshot resolution, text sizing, and the pending note queue.

That’s all good an well but the big news was THIS line–

Note editing on iPhone and other mobile devices is coming soon, so stay tuned.

That is a huge deal and is one that will significantly increase the usefulness of Evernote on the iPhone.

Gles Turnbull over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog had a rant yesterday about the lack of iPhone notes sync. He ends his post with

"I quite like the Notes app. I just wish it would sync. Is that too much to ask?"

My suggestion to him is simple– once Evernote releases the version that allows notes to be edited take a good long look at it, drop the iPhone notes app and use Evernote. The sync already works perfectly and once notes can be edited, it will (or at least should) become the notes app of choice for iPhone and iPod Touch users.
