We wrote about Smart Dial WEEKS ago and after a 9 week (yes, nine week!) review period it has been released in the App Store. According to the developer Gary Fung, Smart Dial is…

… the dialer app everyone has been waiting for! Never scroll through thousands of contacts again! No need to search your contacts with a qwerty keyboard! Smart Dial allows you to quickly dial your contacts by spelling their name directly on the number keypad.

Smart Dial’s features include-

–the ability to find contacts by first and last name

–the ability to view contacts by default phone number or other alternative numbers

–a recent call log

–a keypad dialing sound

–the ability to create new contacts immediately when a new phone number is entered

–in-app editing of contact info

–high performance even if you have over 1000 contacts, search is instant!

Using Smart Dial is simple. You start spelling your contact’s first or last name with the number keypad and the contact will appear with the spelled letters of the name highlighted. If there are multiple choices you tap the down arrow to view next contacts. If there are multiple numbers for a contact you tap the contact name to view alternative phone numbers of that contact. OR, simply spell the rest of the name!

Smart Dial is a great app and for $2.99 ($5 less than the similar FastCall which is reviewed below) it is worth a look! You can get it HERE in the App Store.
