Flash- Apple Gobbling Up Flash

My Mac addiction is now about a year and a half old. That is enough time for me to recognize that every few months there is a new flurry of rumors regarding Apple’s next generation of products.

Time and again they’ve come. Time and again I’ve been caught up in it. And, time and again I have been disappointed.

As a result, I do my best to stear clear of any thing that sounds like it might be coming from someone’s fertile imagination rather than grounded in reality.

That noted — I do love when actual facts indicate something that something is on the way. Here’s a good example–

We’ve all heard rumors that Apple is working to continue the annual model refresh we have seen with the iPhone. That, however, is rumor.

What is not rumor is the fact that, according to All Things Digital, via Engadget, Apple is once again stocking up on flash memory. According to Engadget —

… word is that Cupertino has bought up all of Sammy’s (Samsung) output until April of this year.

Samsung manufactures 40% of the world’s flash memory and Apple has grabbed all of it for the next few months. That sounds like more than a rumor — that sounds like a device grounded in flash memory is coming in a big way. And THAT sounds like… nah, we don’t want to start any rumors…
