It has been expected that the new iOS 6 will have some new and improved features when it is released in the future. One of the things that a lot of people are looking forward to is the Maps application which will be heavily modified as compared with its previous versions. This is because instead of relying data from Google Maps, the new Maps application will instead make use of Apple’s own data.

In addition to that, some other exciting features that people should look forward to include turn-by-turn voice navigation, 3D flyover mode, real-time traffic information and many more. Further inspection of the code from iOS 6 reveals that the improved Maps application will not only be made available on iOS devices but also Mac OS X devices as well. This is because from the iOS 6 codes, there were references made to Intel based graphic processors as well. With this being said and done, people can also expect a new Maps application for Intel-based Mac OS X processors.

The possibility of Apple releasing a version of Maps for both Mac and Windows is likely especially with the evidence gathered above. If this happens, Google Maps will most likely be getting a new competitor.
