It seems that a lot more people are getting iOS devices for the holiday seasons because the charts show that the number of activations of these devices has increased 12-fold over the holiday weekend. This study was done by Localytics which is a company that specializes in analytical data on the iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry as well as Windows Phone 7. One of the things that the company works on includes mobile application analytics as well.

The 12x increase was seen during the holiday week from 23rd December 2011 to 26th December 2011. In South Korea, the country experienced more than 10x increase in activations while the United States had almost 16 times the normal rate. However, in countries such as South Korea and Sweden, the number of Android devices activated had exceeded those from iOS devices and in the case of South Korea, almost 20-fold.

This number of activation is likely to die down after the holiday seasons but it does show the potential on which these devices do have. With a daily increase of almost 400% in some countries, it shows that the holiday season is one of the many times that these companies would benefit a lot. Hey, they should probably throw in a few free gifts too.
