Recently maker of cross-platform development tools, Appcelerator, and IDC polled 2100 developers to see which platform they preferred.

iOS came out on top with 91% saying they were interested in creating apps for the iPhone and 88% interested in iPad app development. The Android OS still trails both iDevices by eight and 20 points.

One of the more suprising results is that 50% of the developers polled said they were interested in developing apps for the Fire, Amazons new mobile device.

“Basically, half of the developers in North America say they’re very interested in the Kindle Fire,” said Scott Schwarzhoff, vice president of marketing at the Mountain View, Calif.-based Appcelerator. “That’s remarkable for a new device, and about the same level of interest as for the iPad just before its launch.

It would be interesting to see what the developers who visit this site think of the Amazon Fire, please share your thoughts in the comments.
